MY KIND OF LOVE IS NOT A CHOICE I MADE.

Can we really choose our sexual orientation or is our sexual orientation already built within our DNA?  I can’t answer that question on a scientific level but I can certainly answer it based on my life experiences.

Let’s start as far back as I can remember.  I can’t pin point the exact moment that I realized that I was attracted to other men but I always knew that this was part of my being.  I wasn’t forced to choose my sexual attraction to other men – I was forced to simulate to what was around me and what other people thought was ‘normality’.  Society, religion and family forced heterosexuality upon me.  I grew up thinking that my attraction to other men was wrong because it was an unacceptable behavior in our society based mainly on religious beliefs.

So as a child – I was already being forced to accept other people’s ideas of what they thought was right.  I was told that my purpose in life was to get an education, get a good job, find a women, get a house, get married and start a family.  This was what was considered ‘normal’.  It wasn’t until I was a pre-teen that these ideas seemed wrong for me, especially the idea of being in a relationship with someone of the opposite sex.  That notion seemed completely against who I was – it wasn’t an authentic feeling.

Needless to say, I lived my life for the benefit of making other people happy.  I dated girls because it was what I had to do not what I felt.  Don’t get me wrong, I loved women but not in a sexual way.  For me, women were nurturing, emotional, great conversationalists, beautiful and loving.

When I began my journey into manhood, I realized that my life of lies, deceit and self-hate were only hurting me.  How can I love others if I don’t even love and respect myself?  I began my life of authenticity – it was a long and painful process.  I had to really look within and start being honest with myself.  I had to release all of the internal homophobia I learned from society, religion and family and then start living my life from love.  This was a struggle and continues to be a struggle but it in the end – it had to happen.

No one can tell you that you must love a certain person.  Love and attraction just happens naturally.  It is something that you can’t choose – I didn’t choose my sexuality, it was chosen for me.  As I said above, I was forced to assimilate to what was considered to be ‘normal’ and was stripped of an authentic part of who I was.

I love who I am today.  I love that I found a path that is in line of who I was meant to be.  I love being an individual with my own thoughts and ideas and I love that I no longer have to hide who I love.  I gained emotional scars throughout my journey but I have learned to love and cherish those beautiful scars because they have shaped me in becoming the person I am today – and I LOVE that person.

Don’t conform to what others tell you – look within and listen to the authenticity that lives within you, that authenticity should guide you in all the endeavors your life’s path will take you on.

WE NEED A REVOLUTION OF LOVE

We live in a world where money trumps all.  Corporations influence legislation.  Governments protect fraudulent bankers and jail their protestors.  Police don’t serve and protect anymore.  Children are kidnapped and held ransom because they want to be educated.  Religion gets in the way of civil liberties.  People are more concerned in celebrity gossip rather than the state of our planet.

WE NEED A REVOLUTION – WE NEED A REVOLUTION of LOVE

We need a revolution of love and we can do this so that we can hold our governments accountable to the people and not to the big corporations (oil, automobile, pharmaceuticals and banks).  Corporations are too powerful and are not accountable for their actions.  They are the biggest polluters, they continue to deplete earth’s natural resources to make products that we have too much off already.  We don’t need to consume more – we need to do the opposite and demand less.  We need to continue to take to the streets and be heard – we need the majority to understand that what THEY are telling you is not true and not to your benefit but theirs.  We need to rise up – we need to come together with real solutions that will sustain us.

We need to remove barriers that hold us back – money, religion, old beliefs, corrupt governments and businesses so that WE can take control.

WE NEED A REVOLUTION – WE NEED A REVOLUTION of LOVE

We need to WAKE UP and RISE UP.  Remove all the distractions that don’t allow us to see clearly.  Turn off the television, video games and computers and become engaged to those that need us and to those that can’t use their voice.  We need to stop eating processed foods and allowing doctors to over-medicate us.  We need to be one voice for the planet and for all humanity.  It is time to do something new because the old ways are not working – it is time to create positive change in the world.  It is time for a REVOLUTION OF LOVE.

  • Respect nature.
  • Be compassionate.
  • Be kind.
  • Spread love.

WE NEED A REVOLUTION – WE NEED A REVOLUTION of LOVE.

AN IMAGE TRIBUTE TO NELSON MANDELA

Nelson Mandela was an inspiration to me – he was a man who believed that everyone should be treated equally and he fought passionately for this all of his life.  A man so encompassed in his beliefs that he spent 27 years in prison for them.  Mandela was and will continue to be a huge and inspirational voice for those who are deemed less equal than the ones who oppress them.  The world has lost a man who was compassionate, fearless, brave, loving and inspirational – he may be gone but his legacy will live on in all those whom he has inspired.  Here is my YouTube tribute to Mr. Mandela.  Please note:  The images I used were images from the internet and I take no credit for any of them.  The song I used is entitled “The Rivers Divide” from Kristine W.  This song can be found on her albums ‘Stronger’ (Japanese Import) or the version I used – from ‘Straight Up With A Twist’.  Her voice and the lyrics of the song bring so much more emotion and life to this video.

You can purchase the song via iTunes or via her website:  http://www.kristinew.com

INFORMATION about a VEGAN DIET

Here are some clips to help and educate you on veganism:

Great resources for starting a vegetarian and vegan lifestyle:

PETA – How to go vegan:  http://features.peta.org/how-to-go-vegan/

VEGAN SOCIETY – great resource with information and recipes on how to start a vegan lifestyle:  http://www.vegansociety.com/lifestyle/food/

LIVING GREEN MAG – veganism and the environmental impacts:  http://livinggreenmag.com/2013/02/13/energy-ecology/veganism-the-environment-by-the-numbers-infographic/

Becoming vegan is a lifestyle choice – For me, it became hard to differentiate the difference between a domesticated animal versus all other animals.  It became difficult to eat a burger and not be fully aware that it was a living, breathing soul before it ended up as food on my plate.  The decision was clear – no more animals.  People continue to ask what I eat and are perplexed that I don’t eat, wear or purchase any products that were made on the suffering of any animals.  I drink vegan wine (Yellow Tale is my favourite – Australian Shiraz), I eat desserts, pizza’s, lasagna, burgers, fries…..but they are all made with plant-based ingredients.  Here are some of the dishes I have made:

TOFU “Egg” Salad Sandwich

We are only limited if we choose to be.  If you were told that eating a vegan lifestyle would promote a healthy mind and body, save countless animals from genocide/murder and help sustain our environment, wouldn’t you at least try?  We have become so conditioned to believe certain things.  These beliefs have helped corporations and governments make billions of dollars.  Isn’t it time you think for yourself and open your mind to the benefits that so many people are talking about?  Imagine cutting your prescription medications, having more energy, clearer skin, clearer thoughts, and healthier body.  Becoming vegetarian/vegan isn’t as hard as people claim it to be – that really is another myth that the meat and dairy industry would like you to believe.

I am not condemning anyone who chooses to eat meat – I know that there are many meat eaters that are loving and caring individuals.  One day – my hope is that they have the same awareness as I do…..if you love animals so much and have compassion for them – why continue to eat them?

REVOLT FOR LOVE and POSITIVE CHANGE!

Many people are talking about starting revolutions – celebrities and regular people are asking for CHANGE in our world.  They are asking for peace, tolerance, compassion, but most of all, they are asking for LOVE.  Forget incompetent government ‘shut-downs’ – these governments are not really working for the people but for themselves and those who can further give them more power or money.

How will you express your desire to revolt?

My revolution began when I acknowledged that I had to live my life as authentically as possible – if I couldn’t love myself, how could I be effective in creating positive change into the world?  I continue my revolution by blogging and expressing my concerns for those who may not be able to express themselves for whatever reason – I blog for the planet, the environment, animals that can’t express themselves except through the pain they face, the LGBT community – who continue to be discriminated against because of their sexual orientation and for all those other people who face the threat of violence for speaking out in the name of LOVE.  I also express my desire to create positive change in the world through my art pieces.  This also me to paint my thoughts and feelings onto canvas which allows me to release my creative and positive energy into the universe.  (Examples are included at the bottom of the post).

My role models are people who managed to spread the word of love, compassion and acceptance – some are still with us today and others are physically gone to the other side but continue to inspire many to continue the revolution of peace, love and acceptance.  Here are just some of those role models:

  • Gandhi
  • Louise L. Hay
  • John Lennon
  • Bob Marley
  • Ingrid Newkirk
  • Woody Harrelson
  • Al Gore
  • David Suzuki
  • Bill McKibben
  • Bill Maher
  • Princess Diana
  • Mother Teresa
  • Dalai Lama
  • Bishop Desmond Tutu
  • Nelson Mandela
  • The Freedom Riders
  • Harriet Tubman
  • Sinead O’Connor
  • Roseanne Barr
  • Governor Jesse Ventura
  • Representative Alan Grayson
  • MP Svend Robinson

There are so many more individuals and celebrities that have inspired me to continue to spread positive energy into the world….but my list would be too long.

As mentioned above – here are some of my original art prints (acrylic oil and digital photography) inspired by my desire to continue to spread positive energy into the universe:
