WHAT WILL YOU ACCOMPLISH TODAY?

What tasks or chores do you have to complete today?  Will your goals satisfy your heart and soul?

Think about the things we must do on a daily basis – they really don’t have a purpose except that we have to do them and we will either function and move on with our day.  Now, think about things that you want to do that will provide you with positive feelings and make you feel great for the rest of the day.  What will you accomplish today that will inspire others and the will ensure positivity throughout your day?  Here are some suggestions:

  • Teach your dog a new trick.
  • Talk your cat for a walk (yes, they need walks also).  Imagine the all the positive reactions you will have during your walk.
  • Compliment at least 10 coworkers or friends for no reason whatsoever.
  • Feed the homeless.
  • Volunteer to help animals/people who need help.
  • Learn something new that you didn’t know about yourself.
  • Run an extra mile.
  • Meditate.
  • Think before you speak and only allow yourself to say positive things.
  • Love without judgements.

Anything you accomplish is something to celebrate – however small or big.  Always look at your life and the lives of others with respect and positivity.  Always write down what you want to accomplish – and always be positive about it.

Have fun and may your goals create positive change in the universe.

Together, we can make the world a more positive one!

WHAT WILL YOU ATTRACT INTO YOUR LIFE TODAY?

Today, I am grateful that I am alive….I am grateful to be able to see, hear, touch, and smell.  I am happy and I am healthy.  What kind of energy are you attracting into your life?

If you really want to attract postive energy – you must think positively and eliminate anything that causes you worry, stress and grief.  Instead of beginning your day with misguided, negative news stories, turn off your television and play music that makes you happy and energizes you.  Don’t start your day with ‘I hate’, ‘I can’t’ or ‘I don’t want to’ instead, look forward to having a great and productive day.

Change negative situations into positive ones.  Remove the need to always be right to avoid argument.  Genuinely smile at people and thank them for their service.  Remove judgements that you may have about anyone – you do not know their story or the reasons that they are in the situations they are in.  Take note of how you speak and treat others.  Are you respectful, friendly, loving, compassionate and do your offer empathy?  Every time you think something negative or negatively of a situation, acknowledge it and change it to something positive.

  • There will always be light to remove the darkness.
  • Love will always conquer hate.
  • Peace will prevail over war.
  • There is only beauty in everything and everyone.

We are all from the same energy….we are all created from Source/God and that Source is a loving source.  Remove all the ideologies of traditional religion.  These ideas teach you to be fearful of whatever energy created us and that energy is negative energy.

Keep telling yourself of the things you would like in your life instead of the things you don’t want.  Whenever you express that you don’t want something – that is what you will attract.  Keep telling yourself that you want love, happiness, joy, laughter, and health and that is what you will receive.  Remember to be of service to others without expecting anything in return.

Don’t live life with endless worry, stress and anxiety instead, live for this moment because THIS moment is the only moment that counts.

Together, we can make the world a more positive one!

Today’s Question To Ponder.

There are many questions that we seek answers for…..

  • What is the meaning of life?
  • What happens after we die?
  • Is there a God?
  • What is my passion?

Ony YOUcan answer these questions by looking within.  No one can answer why YOUR meaning of life is or what YOUR passion is.  People can speculate on what happens after we die or if there is a God, but they truly don’t know.  Think about questions you have that you are seeking answers for and release them into the universe, meditate on these question and seek answers from all of life’s energy source.

Today, I ask you this question:  Is ignorance bliss?

What is YOUR answer?  What images come to mind when you ponder this question.  Really think about it and look within and listen to your thoughts.  What will you do about it when you have your answer?

Together, we can make the world a more positive one!

IT’S SO DARK and GLOOMY OUTSIDE!

How have you awakened to this new day?  Have you accepted it with open arms and ready to face it with love and positive energy?  Do most of us wake up and start our day off with the following thoughts:

  • “I wish it was Friday”
  • “I hate Monday’s”
  • “Another work week, arrgh”
  • “I wish I could win the lottery and not have to work again”
  • “It’s so dark and gloomy outside”
  • “I hate the people at work and hate my job”

What we are doing when we think like this, is sabotaging our day.  When we wake up with a negative disposition to everything we are essentially saying that we want more of it.  If we keep dwelling on any negative thoughts – you will find that only negative things will happen; you will stub your toe or spill coffee on yourself, you will miss the bus to work or be in traffic longer than usual, your boss will be in a bad mood or you will have to work late.  You will encounter other negative and curt people, you will not have a happy day.

How do we change this pattern?  We can start by changing what we do prior to going to sleep.  Here are some suggestions:

  1. Don’t watch television prior to going to bed, especially the news.
  2. Clear your mind of all negative thoughts from the day prior.
  3. Go for a walk or to the gym.
  4. Meditate.
  5. Read a book.

Instead of waking up with negative thoughts or views about how your day will be – turn it around and tell yourself you will have a fantastic day filled with love and positive energy.  If it is raining outside – embrace the fact that the rain is life-giving and rejuvenating mother nature.  Wake up and remind yourself that you still have the breath of life – you are alive and well.  Sing as you get ready for the day ahead.  Smile and love that you are alive.  Don’t get me wrong – life isn’t easy and we do need to acknowledge that ‘stuff’ happens but it is how we deal with that ‘stuff’ that determines what kind of day, week, month, year and life we are going to have.

This is why MY day will be a successful one:

  • I will treat others the way that I want to be treated.
  • I will not judge others.
  • I will laugh a lot.
  • I will appreciate and give gratitude that our planet allows me to live.
  • I will respect all living things.
  • I will be open and receptive to new ideas.
  • I will be kind and compassionate.
  • I will spread love into our world.
  • I will do these things willingly and without the notion that I want something in return.

Together, we can make the world a more positive one!

LOVE or POSSESSIONS? What Matters Most To You?

2014 has officially started.  It is time to live in the moment and to enjoy what life has to offer.  It is time to look at our lives and assess and ask ourselves, what is it that is really important for us.  We are so influenced by what others think or what society deems is important to have.  We are told what to eat, where we should work, what we should have in order to be happy and who we should love.  Why not forget all that and think for ourselves?  Remove the distractions – the televisions, the magazines, the newspapers, the superficial friends and the influence of big corporations.  Really think for ourselves!  Do we really need to live in the biggest and most expensive house?  Do we really need to drive the biggest SUV?  Do we really need to have a television in each room?  For what?  Our possessions mean nothing when our lives are limited to the time we have on this planet.  So – what is it that is really important to you?  Material possessions or time spent with people you love.  People who encourage, support and love you.  How about spending time reconnecting to the planet – offering your service and compassion to assist in its healing?  How about not buying or consuming anymore for yourself and helping those who are in dire need, those who need food, clothing, shelter and love?

2014 doesn’t only have to be about meeting our financial or materialistic goals – it could also be about giving back and allowing ourselves to feel good about giving back and making positive change in our world.  Instead of walking past, ignoring and making judgments on that homeless person on the street, why not change your feeling by either giving that person a blanket, clothing, food or even some money?  Instead of buying another television or any other materialistic thing you don’t require and making a donation to an environmental advocacy group like WWF or Greenpeace.  Instead of spending money going out to a restaurant or club – why not donate your money to a non-profit organization that saves the lives of so many animals like PETA or PAWS?

Life isn’t about consuming more and more materialistic objects – these things don’t define us.  What really defines us is our actions.  I remember a time were the only thing that mattered in my life was having a job that we allow me the financial freedom to buy a big house, a great car and all the materialistic possessions I wanted.  I grew up and realized that these things would not give me the satisfaction and happiness that I needed.  Giving back and advocating for the things that were important to me is what really matters to me and the things that matter most are animals, the planet and the well-being of those who struggle with their sexuality (LGBTQ).  This doesn’t mean that I am ignorant to the plight of so many others – I just want to ensure I focus on the things that matter most to me.

We keep hearing about those who have everything (the top 1%) and that they can end hunger with the amount of money that they have amassed.  The reality of the 1% is that they obviously do not want to see a better world.  They like the power and control they have over the masses.  We must ensure that we continue spreading the message that all humans have the right to the basic necessaties of life; food, clothing and shelter.  We must continue our REVOLUTION OF LOVE and spread positivity into our world – only then will we be able to heal our planet, respect our animals and respect each other.  So what really matters for you in 2014, feeling good about yourself by being compassionate, loving and giving back to the planet and society or by creating more wealth and greed for those that wish to control and distract us from being our authentic loving selves?

Here is brief video that puts our need for materialistic things into perspective entitled “It All Goes Back Into The Box”:

May the year bring you all love, compassion and health!

SHOULD WE REGRET OUR PAST?

Many of us look to the past with regret and say:  “If I had a chance to go into the past, I would do (insert subject/situation) over.”  When I hear this, the only question I have is – Why?  What would change today if you were able to change the past?  Why look at the past with regret and sadness.  Instead of looking in the past with regret, think about your past and all the lessons you have learned.  Would you have learned these things if you were able to change the past?

When we hang onto our past and reminisce about the ‘what if’s’ and ‘why’s’ we are unable to move forward in the current moment.  How many of us think about someone that has wronged us in the past and think about what they are doing now?  How will this thought benefit you today when that moment is gone forever?  And, who cares what that person is doing today – what matters is what YOU are doing today.  If your past is dictating how you feel today or getting in the way of your happiness in this moment and in the now, maybe seeking some counselling would be a great source to move towards happiness and resolvement.

When people ask me the following question:  “If you can go to the past and do one thing differently what would that be?” – My answer would be as follows:

“Nothing – everything I have done in my life came with lessons and without those lessons, I would not be the man I am today.  I look to the past without any regret.”

I embrace the life lessons I learned, I am embrace the changes that those lessons allowed to happen and I embrace the resolutions that all the things I have done in the past have created for me today.  I love to be completely present in the moment – I try not to look to much into the future because, like in the past, I have no control of the outcome.  You can plan and schedule things in the future – but we all know that they are ‘tentative’ and may change at any moment, so why give to much time to what is unknown?

The most important moments in our lives ARE RIGHT NOW.  The words I am typing on this blog are ‘realtime’ – they are allowing me to live in this moment.  To share with you my personal views of why we should not regret anything in our past and not be too quick to look into the future – when we do this, you are missing all the amazing things that are happening RIGHT NOW, in the present moment.  FEEL THE PRESENT MOMENT and LOVE IT – allow it to make you feel alive, happy, healthy and know that being present in the NOW is how we should feel everyday.

When we live in the NOW – we are present in whatever it is we are doing.  That could be advocating for the environment, animals, women’s rights, equality or loving your job, your spouse, you home, the dinner with a friend, the beauty of the modern world or just people gazing.  Live in the moement, live in the NOW and don’t let anything pass you by.

DON’T GIVE UP ON WHAT YOU REALLY WANT TO DO IN LIFE.

What does perseverance mean to you?  If something gets in the way of any goals you set, do you give up on those goals?  If your goals are in line with what you are really passionate about, only success can come.  The universe will keep whispering in your ear and keep sending you messages to continue to pursue that passion.  What role does education have in meeting your goals to live the life that you are passionate about?  Sometimes pursuing your passion is not always easy and some of us are not really sure what we want to do as a career because we are caught up in what family and society deems to be the desirable jobs and how much money we can make in those jobs.

I was never fully present in terms of knowing what I wanted to do – I lacked self-confidence and direction.  My mind was to preoccupied with personal issues that I completely lost myself.  I knew I loved the environment but I lacked the direction and focus I needed to remove the cloudiness and distractions in my life.  I wasn’t ready to listen to the universe.  How are we expected to fulfill our goals or passions when we are shuffled along like sheep through elementary school, junior high school, high school and, for those who are fortunate, college or university only to come out with a massive debt load?  The business of education is not what it used to be – it is not about the student anymore but about the teacher’s unions, tuition, salaries, and revenues – education is lost.  Today, students come out of university with debt they can barely manage and their certificates can’t even guarantee them a job.

After finishing high school and receiving my diploma, I was still unclear of what I wanted to do.  My parents didn’t push university on me but did say that if I didn’t go to school, I would have to get a full-time job.  During this time – I ignored all the messages the universe was sending me to find my true authentic self and life and to live through my passions.  I continued my life of distraction and fell into the belief that we all have to follow the pattern – get a job, buy a car, have a family and do the same thing day after day after day, so I did.  I was told that if I wasn’t happy in what I was doing, that I should go back to school and study something that I enjoyed and get a degree in that field.  Unfortunately, I didn’t know what I enjoyed.  I went to community college for a year and enrolled in a psychology class, I finished the term, did well in the class but never returned.

For years, I continued to work at the market research firm and shuffled through life as everyone else did.  I can’t remember the exact details as to why I left the market research company, but I did.  I began to really listen to my inner-voice and knew I had to deal with my internal struggle and be true to who I was.  I battled depression, alcoholism, drug abuse all because I feared to be and live my true authentic life.  I knew that in order to move forward in my life, I had to be honest with myself.  This began my journey in rediscovering myself.

At the age of 21 – I left home and moved in with my first serious boyfriend.  I was being true to myself and managed and loved it.  I also found a job in a hotel that serviced the gay community.  Despite the hotel being in a not-so desirable location, my work schedule hours (11pm to 7am), and my attitude problem – I loved the job and came to enjoy the service industry.  I stayed there for a year (I was wrongfully dismissed, but that’s another story) and decided I wanted to work in a hotel that allowed me the opportunity for growth and to learn more about the industry.  I managed to get a job with The Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel and worked their as a Guest Service Agent.  I then became the Regular Guest Coordinator/Front Desk Trainer and eventually a Guest Service Manager.  I gained much experience and made many good friends there.  But, life’s distractions found me again.

My 5 year relationship with my partner ended, a new relationship began and the demons I had been fighting with my whole life, reared their ugly head.  I struggled with my new relationship because of those demons and almost lost the most important person in my life (now my wonderful husband).  I was then faced with another life changing event – the loss of my job.  After the events of September 11, 2001 – the hospitality industry suffered huge financial loses because people didn’t want to travel.  Our occupancy rate went from the high 90’s to way below 50%.  Shortly after, I was laid-off.  Was this another sign from the universe telling me that I needed to focus and live my life through what I was passionate about?  If it was, I didn’t listen.

I decided to take some time and really think about what I wanted to do and where I wanted to be.  I would find a part-time job and take the time to investigate my options.  After about a month – I applied for a job that was listed as part-time, was called in for an interview, was successful in getting the job (which ended up being full-time) and almost 12 years later – I continue to work at this job.  The difference now is that I am comfortable working in a job I enjoy and with people who I like, but know that this is only temporary.  I am currently and slowly working on my certification in holistic health and have discovered I have a love for painting.  I do have plans to run my own business but understand that I don’t have to stress myself out in meeting those goals.  I am also not allowing those obstacles to deter me from achieving my future goals.

The current challenge I am facing in becoming self-employed is finding financing.  Becoming self-employed is not as easy as it was in the past.  If you don’t meet the obligations that the government and financial institutions set forth – find other ways.  Banks and governments make you jump through hoops just to process a loan application.  If I can’t meet my ‘start-up’ financial goals through normal means, then I have to be creative and put my trust in the universe and my talents to allow my passion to flow.  My dream will happen, it will just take a little more time.

All the job experiences I have received (market research, hospitality, finance, accounting), the sporadic courses I am taking (holistic health, spiritual psychotherapy), my drive and the passion I have will eventually allow me to operate a business that will inspire people to create positive change in the world.  Here is a brief synopsis of the business I want to start:

My holistic health/spiritual Bed and Breakfast/Retreat will offer a place for people to come and relax, meditate, be with nature and enjoy vegetarian/vegan cuisine.  It will be a waterfront property and as ‘green’ as possible (solar-powered).  I will offer yoga classes/meditation sessions/holistic health education/nutritional advice and reiki.  The retreat or B&B will be in a location where individuals can reconnect with mother nature – hike, canoe, sight see, kayak or just lay back and enjoy the sun and have a swim.  I will support local businesses and organic farms.  I will support companies who have the same values and respect for the planet, animals and the environment as I do.

My intention for my business is set in motion and released into the universe.  I continue to work towards making this goal a reality.  In order to meet my financial goals, I will be selling my original art pieces and creating a GoFund me account to secure financing and lender donations.

More information to follow, progress report and a link to GoFund me account will be posted in the coming weeks.  I will also work on creating a shop on this site where you can purchase my original works of art.

Path To Love

PATH TO LOVE – original piece by Robert Pavao (2013)

Together, we can make the world a more positive one!

BE AUTHENTIC and LIVE FROM LOVE

For many years of my life, I have lived to please others; my parents, my friends, my co-workers, my boss, my partners and even strangers.  I always wanted to make a good impression so that I can be liked.  I hid behind many masks but the mask that was most prevalent was the mask of the clown.  I hid my disappointment, anger, hurt, pain, anxiety and fear behind the mask of a clown…I enjoyed making others laugh but was struggling with so many emotions internally.  I lived like this for years until I was ready to receive the signs the universe was giving me to make the changes that I needed to make.  I began to listen and trust the voice within and the changes came in short little bursts.  I learned to forgive those that have caused me pain and so much pain, anger and hate was released from within.  Some people believe that the ‘little voice within’ is God whispering to you – I’m okay with that.  I tend to call what others call God – The Source, The Universe or The White Light.

I continue through my life and find solace and comfort in knowing that there is something much bigger than everything else.  Source has provided so many things for so many people; happiness, abundance, joy, healing, compassion and mostly LOVE.  I am certainly not perfect but I do know that Source/The Universe/The White Light/God/Jah/Ra (or whatever you call it) will assist you in becoming a much more complete person for no-one else but yourself.  I have a list that I follow to ensure I am giving my best to myself and to those around me.  I am not perfect but at least I know when I tend to make mistakes – mistakes that I hope to learn from.  Here is my list:

THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK

Sometimes our passion for something gets the better of us but we must learn to really think about what we want or need to say before you say it.  It is also important to practice saying these things with love and without judgement.

NEVER ASSUME THAT YOU KNOW WHAT SOMEONE ELSE IS GOING THROUGH

Calling someone a ‘bitch’ or an ‘asshole’ is never right – even if someone is blatantly rude.  We don’t know what kind of day they are having or what they are going through.  I find, the best thing to do is surround them with love and hopefully they will feel your energy – if they don’t, don’t worry about it, wish them well and hope they can reconcile what ever it is that is troubling them.

LIVE IN A POSITIVE WAY

Instead of waking up in the morning thinking “Life Stinks” or “I don’t feel like going to work today”…..wake up and sing whatever positive things come to your mind.  Smile and tell yourself “my day is going to be filled with love, laughter and positive energy”.  Tell people they look good, hold a door open for someone, buy someone you don’t know a coffee or lunch, feel the sun on your face and be grateful but most of all LOVE yourself.

MAKE OTHERS AROUND YOU FEEL GREAT

Imagine if you can change someones demeanor by giving them a compliment?  Instead of telling people why they shouldn’t do or wear something, why not encourage them and tell them that they are great no matter what they do or wear.  Make people feel good – tell someone they have a great smile, a hearty laugh, beautiful eyes, they have beautiful children, etc.  Don’t say these things for the sake of saying them – make sure you mean what you say and the positivity and love will shine through.

RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE

We are all made up of the same composition – we are all blood, bone and skin.  Don’t get caught up in what others look like, the colour of their skin, what their religious believes are, which political party they vote for, we should never judge someone by what they say or do.  Their actions speak much more loudly than their words.  Respect people’s differences – just because we are all blood, bone and skin doesn’t mean we are all the same.

RESPECT THE PLANET

It’s a simple as picking up garbage in your local park.  We must respect the planet we live on and must do everything we can to ensure it thrives.  Think about what you drive, how many times you wash clothing, what you throw out, what you buy, what you eat – all these things have an effect on our planet and if we don’t do our best to lessen our carbon footprint, we may not have a healthy planet for too long.  Be grateful that our planet continues to supply us with clean water, air and food.  Give thanks to our planet and release any healing energy you have into the earth with love.

RESPECT ANIMALS

I am no better than anyone else because I am a vegan (okay maybe I am….lol ;0) – ) but if you choose to eat meat, be thankful that it sacrificed its life to end up on your plate.  Most of us don’t even think about where our food comes from.  So many animals are born into life just so that you can have food on your plate.  Give thanks for their ultimate sacrifice.  Animals are not created by Source/God/The White Light/The Universe for our entertainment – they are not meant to be confined or jailed so that we can look at them from behind bars or thick glass.  Animals are not created so that we can gun them down for sport or to be used as props.  Be respectful of them – treat them with love and compassion and give them a chance to live as they should.

IF SOMETHING MAKES YOU UNHAPPY, CHANGE THAT SOMETHING OR BEHAVIOUR

We have all experienced how negative energy sucks the life out of a room….that is the same thing that happens to our own energy when you are surrounded by things, people or behaviours that are negative.  If a friend, family member, co-worker or even acquaintance depletes your energy – remove them from your life.  This is not a selfish act – how can you continue to live in a positive light if those around you make you unhappy?  If you engage in behaviour that doesn’t make you happy – face that behaviour and affirm that you will change it so that you can live your life in a positive light.  Someone really wise once said “Be the change you want to see in the world”…….if all you see is negative that is all that will come to you.

These are some of the things that I do to help me create a life of positivity and love.  I work on these things everyday and am certainly not perfect.  I try my best to live a life as the loving and authentic person I know I am.  I don’t want to hide behind the clown mask anymore.  I still make people laugh (I think) but I do it from a place of love and not from disappointment, anger, hurt, pain, anxiety and fear.

Be authentic, be compassionate, live without judgement and live from LOVE.

Together we can make the world a more positive one.

WORDS TO LIVE BY – FROM CHRIS ASHTON KUTCHER

Life teaches us many things – it’s amazing when others share their lessons and their wisdom with everyone….my favourite part of this speech:

“Everything around us, that we call life, was made up by people who are no smarter than you – and you can build your own life”

Whether you like him or not – his message is inspiring.  Thank you for sharing it with all of us.

Together, we can make the world a more positive one!
